BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

     The hit animated series, Batman: The Animated Series, taught us alot about how The Joker feels about the cat and mouse game that he plays with Batman. 

     The Joker doesn't hate Batman or want to kill him. He actually loves Batman. The Joker needs Batman just as much as his crime victims do. Batman provides a counteracting force that brings balance to whatever The Joker does. 

    The Joker actually enjoys the little game where he throws that balance off by committing some crime and then having the balance restored when Batman brings him to justice. We see this same theory play out in the Dark Knight movie where Heath Ledger plays The Joker character.

     On the other side, Batman needs The Joker and all of the other villains in Gotham City. Bringing evil doers to justice is Bruce Wayne's way of atoning for not being able to stop his parents from being killed.

     So, this psychological yin/yang cat and mouse game brings satisfaction to both sides.

     If you don't believe my theory. Watch the episode titled "The Man Who Killed Batman" and listen to The Joker, voiced by the iconic voice actor Mark Hamill, deliver Batman's Eulogy in front of the man he believed to have killed Batman.
